Every week, on Thursday, I open the Play’n GO website to check out their new slots. And for a reason, as most of their slots bring something special.

This time, I wasn’t disappointed, but Fire Toad is probably not their 2021-blockbuster slot.

It cannot be party-time every week, and still, it’s more than just a nice slot. It’s easy to play, and if you happen to love toads and frogs, this is certainly one you want to play. Indeed, it helps that its springtime.

The max win is a fabulous 5000x, and that makes Fire Toad a high variance slot. The slot reminds me of the excellent Firefly Frenzy slot, which is one of the most volatile Play’n GO slots.

Gameplay and Features

Fire Toad has 5 reels with 4 symbols each and relies on the win-all-ways mechanic. It has 1024 (4x4x4x4x4=1024) ways to win.

The high-paying symbols are the toads. You see them evolve from baby toads to more mature toads (from purple to blue to green to orange to red).

The red Fire Toad is the most lucrative one. A five-of-a-kind yields a 5x win. So indeed, a full screen gets you over the 5.000x max win.

The clubs, spades, hearts and diamonds are the lower-paying symbols.

The Wild Scatters are the fireflies, and a five-of-a-kind of these gets you a 50x win!

 

How do you get the free spins?

You win 9, 12 or 15 free spins if you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 Wild Scatters.

You can retrigger the free spins. You gain another 3, 4 or 5 extra free spins if 3, 4 or 5 Wild Scatters appear on the screen.

The free spin’s main advantage is the symbol upgrades. When you start the free spins, you already benefit from the first upgrade, where the purple baby toads are replaced by the (still) tiny blue toads.

If you manage to spin another 3, 4 or 5 Wild Scatters, you retrigger 3, 4 or 5 free spins, but you also get the next upgrade, where the larger green toad replaces all purple and blue mini toads.

Get another two retriggers, and you only have the lucrative Fire toads. Imagine yourself spinning some 15 (or so) Fire Toads afterwards, with a win-all-ways slot with 1024 ways to win!
